Artist's Description

This is a photograph of a partial solar eclipse that occurred on October 23,2014. A partial eclipse occurs when the Moon moves in it's orbit between the Earth and the Sun thereby blocking the Sun and casting a shadow over the Earth.
The prism effect you see in the photograph is cause by the sunlight shining on the layer's of exposed x-ray film I use to cover my camera lens with to tone down the brightness of the Sun. I also cover my viewfinder to protect my eyes.
The Sun can damage your eyes rather quickly if you look at it directly during an event such as this. There are expensive filters and equipment you can purchase for these events.
Ingenuity is My Bestfriend hence the x-ray film :D
The black dot's you see in the middle of the Sun is a Spectacular Sunspot I was fortunate enough to capture. This Photograph is featured in CNN Stars and Space Section.

About Angela J Wright

Angela J Wright

I've loved creating magic via the camera lens I think for forever.... It gives me great joy and inspiration to uplift or inspire someone through my photography. I'm a transplant from the Los Angeles,Calif. area now living in Yucca Valley,Calif. Everyday I wake up is like waking up in a magical place! I love going out into the desert each day with my little doggy (Princess Betty Biscuit's) and working. I especially enjoy night work in the desert. Nothing but the night sounds of coyote's howling and the beautiful night sky... It's amazing there is so much more to see at night! I haven't any formal training in photography. I self taught myself from book's and going out and just doing it!! I feel fortunate my work is...
